Quote of the Week

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk
“My people are going to learn the principles of democracy the dictates of truth and the teachings of science. Superstition must go. Let them worship as they will, every man can follow his own conscience provided it does not interfere with sane reason or bid him act against the liberty of his fellow men."

Our Mission

As stated in the University of Chicago Secular Student Alliance consititution, our mission is to:

  2. promote and practice the open, rational, and scientific examination of the universe and our place in it
  3. demonstrate that ethics and morality can be meaningfully based on rational and humanistic ideals and values
  4. promote skeptical inquiry
  5. organize social activities and forums for discussion, guest speakers, and debates that contribute to the ongoing learning of the University of Chicago community
  6. foster acceptance of such freethinkers
  7. advocate for the separation between church and state
